Mike and Nancy rucker started a business built on a strong foundation of Passion and intense enthusiasm. Mike worked as a truck driver for many years for been E Keith when he decided he could transition a hobby into a business; he  And Nancy did just that from a walk in closet apartment turned into Rucker bullet company in 1976. They begin selling their ammunition and components to friends and customers on the gun show circuit. When the oil bust hit just a short time later their target market of skilled laborers and blue collar workers were greatly affected. Cautious, Mike return to the workforce to his young and growing family would have a stable income to rely upon; that lasted a few years until the market returned and the Rucker’s entrepreneurial spirit itched again.
They moved to Terrell in 1979 and had their 2nd son, now operating out of their homes garage and gamerroom.   From there they did a wide range of gun shows mainly targeting the Texas area on the weekends , also  Loading commercially for taining police officers during the week.
In 1990 they purchased a store front in whiskey for my father and son team whom they knew well and had previously sold their own bullets and ammunition on consignment. Their oldest son Ray started running the store at 20 years old, but the FFL requirements were held under Nancy’s name.  Ray  Started with no air conditioner for a year, leaking ceiling.  He helped play a key part in keeping the store constantly evolving and changing to the times to help to be know as a reloading honey hole.  He dabbled in different shooting sports and even black powder, to get real understanding of what people need help on. He worked there 10 yrs. before pursuing another career.
Then Robby the youngest son stepped in the fill his brother’s shoes,  Handling local gun shows on the weekend, and ordering/stocking/running store during the week.
In 2007, MIKE RUCKER, family patriarch and founder of the business passed away.
Determined to move on Nancy and Robby have committed themselves to Southwest ammo company with even more desire and drive. We continue to run the store front in Mesquite with the assistance of store manager Harry of 10 years; while Robby still  Attends anywhere from 40 to 45 gun/trade shows a year setting up on an average of 5 to 7 tables at each of them.
We will still continue to work hard and have success through word-of-mouth and knowledge of our customer base and how to fill their needs.
